There’s something missing from the proposed $1000 fines for whats his name’s violations of court orders. It’s a matter of degree.
According to CNBC the average American aged 77 has a net worth of about a million dollars. The median is a quarter million but a million makes the calculations easier so I’ll go with that.
Last I heard him say, he claimed to be worth ten billion dollars. We all know that’s not true. So again for the sake of simplicity lets say he’s worth just one billion.
One thousand millionaires together have one billion dollars. One thousand!!! He’s a thousand times richer than the average 77 year old American.
That $1000 fine to him is like a $1 fine to said average American and I dare say they could weather a $1000 dollar fine. It might hurt, enough even to shut them up, but a one dollar fine, yeah, I seriously doubt that would have any impact.
Whats his name should be leveled an appropriately scaled fine. Not $1000 but 1000 * $1000. A million dollars.
I respectively suggest that Judge Merchan level ten $1,000,000 fines for the ten violation the prosecutors have identified.
